Real Madrid sell defender Javi Sanchez to Real Valladolid in €3m deal

Real Madrid have sold centre-back Javi Sanchez to Real Valladolid for a fee of around €3 million.

The defender moved to Valladolid on loan last summer, but has been troubled by injuries and only made his league debut as a late substitute for the Castilian club in their 2-1 win at Leganes on Saturday.

However, the player is well-thought of at the Jose Zorrilla and completed a permanent switch on Tuesday.

"Real Madrid C. F. and Real Valladolid C. F. have agreed the transfer of Javi Sanchez," Madrid said in a statement on their website.

"The club would like to thank Javi Sanchez for all these years of commitment, professionalism and exemplary conduct, ever since he joined our academy in 2005 at eight years old."

Sanchez, who has signed a deal which keeps him at Valladolid until 2024, made five first-term appearances for Los Blancos last season and scored one goal.

Madrid will have first option on a transfer if the defender is sold in future, Standard Sport understands.
