Former France midfielder Zinedine Zidane has been given the green light to continue his coaching career after being granted his Uefa Pro Licence.
Zidane has been working as coach of Real Madrid’s Castilla ‘B’ team but was officially listed as an assistant because he had yet to complete the mandatory qualification required by the Spanish Football Association. But now the 42-year-old, who won 108 caps for France, is free to pursue his career after revealing he successfully passed the course on Friday.
“Very proud to complete and receive my Uefa Pro Licence today. Mission accomplished. ZZ,” Zidane wrote on Instagram.
Zidane had already obtained his Uefa B licence, which allowed him to be the assistant to Carlo Ancelotti on the bench in Madrid last year. He was briefly suspended last year but reinstated after being cleared by the Administrative Tribunal of Spanish sport (TAD).
Reports in France earlier this week claimed that Zidane could be in line to replace Marcelo Bielsa should the Argentine leave his post at Marseille.
