Real Madrid's three Paul Pogba transfer alternatives - including two Man Utd targets

Real Madrid are believed to be hatching a plan to land Paul Pogba from Manchester United - but they have now identified three potential alternatives should they miss out.

According to AS , Los Blancos are continuing to monitor Tottenham star Christian Eriksen as they consider a move if the Pogba move fails to materialise.

But two players linked with Manchester United moves, Bruno Fernandes and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, are also believed to be back-up options.

Fernandes has reportedly held talks with United chiefs over a move from Sporting Lisbon, whilst Lazio's Milinkovic-Savic could also be allowed to leave Italy for the right fee.

Real Madrid will give themselves until August 8 - the end of the the Premier League transfer window - to sign Pogba.

If they do not succeed by that point, it is highly unlikely United will allow Pogba to go with no chance to bring in a replacement.

As a result, they will then turn to their alternatives, who could be off the market if United act first and bring them to Old Trafford.

But the lure of Madrid and their interest could tempt them to be patient over a move to the Premier League, whilst it will also give them an upper hand in negotiations over personal terms.

Pogba remains Zidane's preference, although United are set to start negotiations are a huge fee which is way more than the La Liga giants are willing to pay.

They are set to offload three forward players which could help fund the move, with Gareth Bale heavily linked with a big-money move to China which would cut their wage bill dramatically.

Dani Ceballos will choose between a loan move to either Arsenal or Tottenham, whilst James Rodriguez could join cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid or Italian side Napoli on a permanent deal.
