Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos stance revealed as Jose Mourinho explains plan for Oliver Skipp

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Wednesday, January 13.

Madrid's Ramos stance

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is concerned that reports over David Alaba's imminent arrival at the club may be misleading to reported Tottenham target Sergio Ramos.

The Spaniard is out of contract at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer and Spurs are reportedly keen on signing the experienced central defender.

Los Blancos are close to signing Alaba, according to reports, but Perez views that move as completely separate to Ramos' contract situation.

The report states that the Bayern Munich star is not seen as Ramos' replacement, and the club's president sees a future for the latter in the Spanish capital.

Spurs' Skipp plan

Tottenham have a plan for the progression of Oliver Skipp into Jose Mourinho's regular first team plans.

Skipp is someone that Mourinho and Spurs have high hopes for in the future, with the 20-year-old signing a four-year deal last summer.

Speaking to football.london when he signed the new deal, the Spurs boss said: "I never told him I want him to go on loan, I always told him I wanted him to stay here, because that's the selfish perspective of a coach who wants the best possible squad. In his mind he wants to go on loan, six months, the whole season.

"He feels that he needs that, I also feel that would be good for his evolution, so maybe that is the direction we go."

Now, Skipp is on loan at Norwich City in the Championship and has been in fine form for the Canaries this season.

If Norwich are promoted back to the top-flight, then a second season at Carrow Road could be looked at.

However, if not, then Mourinho could want him back to perhaps replace Moussa Sissoko, who the Portuguese coach does not see as a 'natural central midfielder'.
