Real Madrid's Pogba swap deal, Sancho to Man City - the latest European transfer rumours

Off the field, with the January transfer window creeping ever closer, rumours continue to circulate as clubs across Europe prepare to do business.

Clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are being backed to conduct business in January as they aim to finish the campaign with silverware.

So with that in mind, here are the biggest stories from across the continent.

Real Madrid prepare Pogba bid

Real Madrid are reportedly set offer James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale to Manchester United in exchange for Paul Pogba.

The Spanish giants have been tracking United's French World Cup winner and look set to step up their pursuit to bring him to the Bernabeu.

According to The Sunday Express, they will use Bale and Rodriguez to try and do a deal with United in desperate need of a midfield playmaker and another forward.

Man City lead Sancho race

Manchester City are said to have first refusal on Jadon Sancho should he leave Borussia Dortmund.

The English sensation left the Premier League champions for a move to Germany and has been linked with a return back to his home country.

With Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and most of Europe's elite clubs interested in his signature, the Sunday Mirror insist it's Pep Guardiola's side that will be given first refusal on their one-time academy star.

Messi set for new Barcelona deal

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu wants Lionel Messi to sign a new contract.

The 32-year-old claimed a record sixth Ballon d'Or title last week and still remains at the peak of his powers.

"I would like Messi to sign one more contract [extension]," Bartomeu said in an interview on Catalunya Radio.

The Argentine star's current deal expires in the summer of 2021.
