Real Madrid's Odegaard transfer stance is revealed as wonderkid drops Arsenal shirt number hint

Here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Player ratings vs Benfica

Arsenal's Europa League round of 32 first-leg tie against Benfica ended all square with Bukayo Saka cancelling out Pizzi's penalty to leave the game in the balance.

The Gunners spurned a couple of golden chances to take a lead into the second leg - with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang guilty of missing a sitter in the first-half.

But it was Saka who came to the rescue with his sixth goal of the season across all competitions.

More importantly, the north London outfit have an away goal in their pocket and that means they will advance to the round of 16 stage with a goalless draw in next week's second leg.

Aside from Saka, on-loan midfielder Martin Odegaard caught the eye at the Stadio Olimpico and there was also a high mark for another loanee in Dani Ceballos.

But how did the rest of the team fare?

Real Madrid's Odegaard transfer stance

Real Madrid are reportedly frustrated with Martin Odegaard.

The attacking midfielder is on loan at Arsenal from the La Liga giants until the end of the season, and his first start in last Sunday's 4-2 victory over Leeds United.

And according to Defensa Central state, it's Odegaard's comments about a permanent transfer that were made after the win against Leeds that has frustrated his parent club.

Odegaard refused to rule out a permanent move to the Emirates Stadium, stating: “You never know what happens, but first of all my focus is about the rest of the season. Hopefully (I will) help the team, and then we’ll see what happens.”

That is said to have irritated those at the Santiago Bernabeu, as he is regarded as part of their future and are said to not be interested in a sale at the end of the season.

Gabriel Martinelli's dream shirt number

Arsenal wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli has spoken about following in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's footsteps, sharing his admiration for his club captain.

"Of course, Auba is an incredible player. Not just a player, an incredible person, he told ESPN Brasil. "It’s a pleasure to have him in the team. He’s a guy who plays in my position.

"I can look at him every day and try to learn as much as possible.

"I certainly hope to be playing in the near future. And follow in his footsteps, he’s captain of the team, wearing shirt 14, which is a symbol of the club. I hope to have a bright future ahead at Arsenal."

Martinelli's comment about the famous number 14 may indicate his plans to take the number in the future when Aubameyang's time with Arsenal comes to a close.
