Real Madrid respond to Paul Pogba after Man Utd star talks up 'dream' transfer

Real Madrid have no interest in signing Paul Pogba next summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Frenchman has faced an uncertain future at Manchester United ever since pushing for a move to the Bernabeu last summer, though a potential switch failed to materialise.

And, despite enduring an injury hit 2019/20 campaign, the Red Devils midfielder has battled his way back into contention under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.

But that hasn't stopped him speculating about his long-term future and this week he admitted it is still his "dream" to play for Madrid.

However Spanish publication AS have claimed that Bernabeu bosses have no intention of signing the 27-year-old.

Zinedine Zidane has made Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe his No.1 target and it is believed the club will prioritise the signing of Pogba's international teammate instead.

Pogba is currently on international duty for France, and came on as a substitute in the 7-1 thrashing of Ukraine in a friendly on Wednesday.

The midfielder's contract is due to expire in the summer of 2021, although the club have an option to extend it for a further year.

There was talk that he could soon sign a new long-term deal at United, although this has yet to materialise.

And speaking ahead of his country's Nations League games against Portugal and Croatia, Pogba did little to play down the rumours he could be set for Los Blancos in the future.

When asked about the prospect of a move to La Liga, Pogba replied: "We have all heard these things that have been said. What to respond?

"Yes, all footballers would like to play for Real Madrid. Maybe it is a dream. It is a dream for me, why not one day."

Pogba did, however, also insist that for now his focus is fully on United, and he seems determined to help the team turn around their recent poor form.

"I am at Manchester," he continued. "We know that this has been spoken about a lot and I have not (spoken about it).

"I heard a lot of noise that I was going to leave and I was going to leave to clubs left and right. Today, I am still at Manchester United and I am fighting to try to take the club even higher."
