Real Madrid have rejected the chance to sign Brazlian star Willian on a free transfer.
Chelsea forward Willian will become a free agent this summer when his current deal expires and the 31-year-old could be ready to quit Stamford Bridge.
Real Madrid were sounded out about his potential availability but the Spanish giants are reluctant to offer him a three year deal.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is an admirer and rates him but does not believe the club should press ahead in trying to get him.
Willian’s agent Kia Joorabchian says the Brazilian’s top priority has been to stay at Chelsea while it is understood if he does leave Stamford Bridge then his preference would be to move to another Premier League club.
Tottenham and Arsenal have been heavily linked but may struggle to get a deal done because of the financial crisis.
Joorabchian told Sky Sports: ”Willian wanted to sign a three-year contract to achieve things he wanted to achieve over the next three years, and see where his career take him from there.
"Chelsea's policy [for players over 30] only allows two [years], so that's where the stumbling block was.
"At the moment he is a Chelsea player and has a contract with Chelsea until the season is over, so it is disrespectful to talk about him moving to other clubs.”
Willian has spent seven years at Stamford Bridge having joined in 2013.
During that time he has won two Premier League titles as well as the FA Cup and League Cup.
