Real Madrid receive major Sergio Ramos boost ahead of Chelsea clash despite Dani Carvajal blow

Real Madrid have been handed a potentially huge boost ahead of their Champions League semi-final second leg with Chelsea.

The two sides drew 1-1 in the first leg at Valdebebas after Karim Benzema cancelled out Christian Pulisic's brilliant solo goal after just 14 minutes.

That goal gave Chelsea an advantage heading into the second leg, regardless of the equaliser with the away goal giving the Blues something to defend back at Stamford Bridge.

And ahead of the second leg, Real Madrid have received two big blows in the form of an injury to right-back Dani Carvajal, while Marcelo has been called up for civil duty at local elections, something he technically cannot get out of.

Discussions between Real Madrid and the Madrid government will continue over that matter, but as things stand, Los Blancos will be without two right-backs, leaving them with only Alvaro Odriozola in that position.

But there is one big boost in the form of captain Sergio Ramos, who has been out of action since the start of April with a muscular injury.

Ahead of the second leg, Ramos has returned to training with teammates having been doing individual work over the last week or so in a bid to return.

Real Madrid are in the thick of a four-way title race in La Liga, and Ramos will be desperate to get back to contribute to that, as well as their latest Champions League bid.

Los Blancos are seeking their 14th Champions League title, and Ramos could return for the second leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to help them keep that dream alive.

Meanwhile, left-back Ferland Mendy will remain a doubt having missed the last four games with a calf issue.

The aforementioned Caravajal, as well as Lucas Vazquez, have been ruled out for the season, while another key defender in Nacho Fernandez has taken a knock, missing training on Thursday, though he should return to face Chelsea.
