Real Madrid player slams referee over performance vs Man City

Manchester City’s equaliser against Real Madrid should have been ruled out for a foul, Vinicius Jr claimed.

Isco had given the La Liga giants the lead in the 60th minute but Pep Guardiola’s side struck back just eight minutes later.

Gabriel Jesus headed home a perfect Kevin De Bruyne cross but Vinicius believes it should have been disallowed because of a foul from the City forward on Sergio Ramos.

De Bruyne went on to score City's winner from the penalty spot five minutes later.

“Gabriel Jesus committed a foul in the first goal and everyone knows it,” the Madrid winger said after City’s win at the Bernabeu. “We have the VAR but the referee didn't want to go and have a look at the play. I could see it from the sidelines and it was clear.

“Referees always come here and make decisions against us on purpose, it's always the same. We are the team that has won the most league titles and most Champions League, it will always be like this.”

Jesus, who impressed on the left for City during the win with Guardiola opting to play without a striker, denied he had fouled the Madrid captain.

“Football is a contact sport, I didn't push him, I barely used my hand and didn't make a big movement, I stayed still, it wasn't a foul,” Jesus said.

Ramos was sent off for a foul on the Brazilian in the 86th minute meaning he will miss the return leg at the Etihad in three weeks’ time.
