Real Madrid 'open contact with Paul Pogba's agent' over summer transfer

Paul Pogba's agent has contacted Real Madrid about a potential summer move to the Bernabeu, according to reports in Spain.

Madrid-based daily Marca has claimed that Mino Raiola, who represents Pogba , telephoned the Spanish giants to effectively offer the midfielder to them.

The report states that over the course of two conversations with the Real hierarchy, Raiola made it clear that his client had decided to leave Manchester United and that he wanted to join Los Blancos.

It is not the first time that Real have been linked with Pogba, having rivalled United for the World Cup-winner's signature when he left Juventus in 2016.

Man Utd and Liverpool transfer target Matthijs de Ligt hints at Juventus switch

Real president Florentino Perez is said to have baulked at the €105million transfer fee the Premier League club agreed to pay for Pogba three years ago, and the size of the price tag could prove a stumbling block this time around as well.

United are sure to want to see a return on their investment, especially as Pogba has enjoyed a sparkling return to form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford dugout in December.

It has been reported that Real would need to stump up in excess of £100m to secure his services - something that Perez has previously ruled out sanctioning.

However, Raiola's actions would suggest that it is the will of both parties to at least explore the possibility of getting a deal done.

Returning Real coach Zinedine Zidane is a long-term admirer of the France star, and has targeted midfield as an area that needs strengthening this summer.

Pogba, meanwhile, has made little attempt to disguise the esteem in which he holds Los Blancos. Despite flourishing under Solskjaer -  and backing the Norwegian's permanent appointment - the midfielder described playing for Madrid as a "dream" during the international break.

" Real Madrid is a dream for any kid or footballer and especially with Zidane," Pogba said.

"I am happy at United but you never know what will happen tomorrow."
