Real Madrid next manager: Arsene Wenger, Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte on list to replace Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane has announced that he is leaving Real Madrid this summer. The Frenchman has enjoyed an unprecedented level of success during his three years at the Santiago Bernabéu, and his unexpected departure has caused arguably the biggest vacancy in world football.

There are a number of contenders for the role, as Real attempt to find a manager as successful as Zidane, who won three Champions League trophies since taking over from Rafael Benitez in January 2016 as well as a league title in 2016/17.

Germany national team manager Joachim Loew has emerged as the early favourite, while youth-team manager and former player Guti is also likely to be in the frame.

Real may also decide to attempt to poach a successful Premier League manager. They likely wouldn’t encounter much resistance if they tried to recruit Antonio Conte from Chelsea, although tempting Mauricio Pochettino to the club from Tottenham Hotspur could prove difficult. The Argentinian signed a new five-year deal with the north London club last week.
