After a difficult pre-season, Zinedine Zidane’s side kicked off their campaign in La Liga with a 3-1 win away to Celta Vigo on August 17, but some familiar failings returned in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Valladolid.
Real Madrid travel to Villarreal next in the third round of matches on September 1, with the transfer window to close in Spain the following day.
Los Blancos are still in the market for a new signing before then, with Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, Ajax’s Donny van de Beek and Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen all transfer targets.
Zidane’s side will also find out the identity of their rivals in the Champions League group stages as the draw for the European competition takes place this Thursday.
