Real Madrid new signing asked about Man Utd star Paul Pogba amid transfer speculation

Real Madrid new signing Ferland Mendy says he would welcome the addition of Paul Pogba from Manchester United as rumours abound over the midfielder's future.

Mendy and Eden Hazard have already signed for the Spanish giants this summer and there is speculation that Pogba could swap Old Trafford for the Santiago Bernabeu amid a major Madrid spending spree.

Pogba has dropped a number of hints that he would like to move from United this summer, though MEN Sport understands the Reds are confident of keeping their star midfielder.

Mendy, 24, was asked about Real transfer links to Pogba and Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe at his unveiling last week and said: "Why not, they are players of a very good quality."

Pogba recently stated his desire for a "new challenge" last week, adding to comments from April that Real would be a "dream club for any player", prompting speculation that his three-year (second) spell at United could be coming to an end.

Zinedine Zidane is overseeing a major overhaul of Los Blancos' squad, though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to keep United's best players as the Reds undergo their own rebuild.

United are targeting the addition of another midfielder this summer, but want someone to play alongside Pogba rather than replace the World Cup winning midfield star.
