Real Madrid name squad to face Chelsea with just one injury absentee for Champions League clash

Real Madrid will be without Ferland Mendy for their Champions League trip to Chelsea this week, with Carlo Ancelotti otherwise boasting a fully-fit squad.

On Monday, the Spanish giants named their travelling party boarding the flight to London ahead of a training session at Stamford Bridge.

That confirmed Mendy’s absence due to a calf injury, suffered recently after his comeback from a long-term thigh problem.

Toni Kroos and Vinicius Jr were included after sitting out the weekend win at Cadiz, after which Ancelotti confirmed they would be fit for the quarter-final second leg.

David Alaba, Dani Carvajal and Luka Modric were on the bench for that victory and should return to the line-up, while Eduardo Camavinga and Nacho Fernandez will compete to start at left-back in Mendy’s absence.

Confirmed Real Madrid squad to face Chelsea:

GK: Courtois, Lunin, Lopez

DEF: Carvajal, Rudiger, Militao, Alaba, Nacho, Vallejo, Odriozola, Vazquez

MID: Kroos, Modric, Camavinga, Valverde, Ceballos, Tchouameni

ATT: Benzema, Asensio, Vinicius Jr, Hazard, Mariano, Rodrygo
