Real Madrid legend sends club transfer message over Manchester United's Paul Pogba

Real Madrid legend Guti believes Paul Pogba "is not as brilliant" as other stars in their side but believes the Manchester United midfielder would be an important signing.

United have so far rebuked any attempts from Madrid to sign Pogba, though speculation has heightened throughout the summer and the Frenchman may yet depart. MEN Sport understands United will not entertain offers, despite Pogba and his agent Mina Raiola hinting at a possible exit, with the player himself saying he wants a "new challenge" and describing Madrid as a "dream club for any player".

The transfer deadline for English clubs is August 8 — this Thursday — but Spanish clubs have until September 2 to bring in players, with Madrid still hopeful they can sign Pobga.

And speaking to Telemadrid  via Don Diario Guti said he believes Pogba would add balance to Real's team of superstars. Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy, Luka Jovic, Rodrygo and Eder Militao have all been signed this summer for a combined £272.7million cost.

“He is a very complete player," Guti said on Pogba.

“It is true that he is not as brilliant as others like (Luka) Modric or (Eden) Hazard, but Real needs these type of players to balance the team, both defensively and offensively.”

“Hazard is without a spark, he lacks the rhythm he has when he faces and leaves the opponents, but I think he will not have many problems because he will perform well at Real Madrid as he did at Chelsea. The important thing is that Real Madrid signs a couple of players with the weight that he has.”

Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for Ajax star Donny van de Beek and it remains to be seen which midfield reinforcement they are able to bring in this summer.
