Real Madrid left 'frustrated' by Manchester United's interest in Pau Torres

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly frustrated with Manchester United for jumping the queue for Pau Torres.

MEN Sport understands that Manchester United are interested in signing the 24-year-old defender in the summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is prioritising a striker and a centre-back in the next transfer window, with Erling Haaland and Torres both on United's radar.

United are keen to add a new centre-back to their ranks and the Spaniard being left-footed appeals to the club, though Real Madrid are also keen on his signature.

According to El Desmarque, Perez has reluctantly accepted defeat in the tace for Torres, who had been earmarked as a replacement for Sergio Ramos, who is out of contract in the summer.

With Los Blancos struggling to raise funds for signings this summer, the report adds Torres' value is 'rising like foam with each passing day'.

It's understood Torres has a release clause in his current deal which lies in the region of €60million after he penned a contract extension until 2024 two years ago.

However, the MEN understands Villarreal could consider a player-plus-cash offer for Torres if any suitors are unable to match such a figure in the current financial climate.

Manchester City are also monitoring Torres' situation and it's understood that the player would be keen on a potential move to the Premier League.

As reported by the MEN, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also hold an interest, though the player is said to be focussed on Villarreal and finishing the season strongly.

It is understood any possible deal for Torres would likely to take place late in the summer window with the defender fully focused on his international ambitions.
