Real Madrid honour fans and invoke spirit of 'La Decima' triumph with new away kit

Real Madrid have unveiled their new La Decima-inspired away shirt for the 2019-20 season.

The new jersey is dark blue with gold trim and features a printed sound wave that manufacturers Adidas say "symbolises the noise generated by the fans in the historic season in which Real Madrid conquered La Decima".

It has been five years since Los Blancos famously ended a 12-year wait for their 10th European Cup triumph with a 4-1 extra-time victory over cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.

Meanwhile, the gold on the new shirt is said to represent the three Champions League titles Real have won post-Lisbon.

“Create the Noise" is named as the concept for the marketing campaign, with French star Ikki producing a music video performed by Denom and Anita Kuruba and featuring several players.

While the new kit may celebrate Real's past successes, last season was a huge disappointment for the club, who finished the campaign trophy-less and third in LaLiga, 19 points adrift of champions Barcelona.

Zinedine Zidane will be focused on righting those wrongs during his first full season back in charge.

Real have already flexed their considerable financial muscle in the transfer market this summer, signing Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo.
