Real Madrid fan trumpets stirring rendition of club anthem from rooftop in Spanish capital

A trumpet-playing Real Madrid fan has won applause in the street and now online with his rendition of the club’s La Decima song during lockdown in the Spanish capital.

From a rooftop terrace just a stone’s throw from the city’s Wizink Center (home of Real Madrid’s basketball games), the musician is filmed blaring out the tune in a video which has gone viral on Twitter.

One lady waves a Spanish flag, while others watch on and then applaud from their balconies at the end as the trumpeter lets out a cry of ‘Hala Madrid’ once he has finished.

The video was picked up by Real Madrid on Sunday night in a post which quoted a line from the song (which was made to mark the club’s 10th Champions League crown in 2014 and is now played at the Santiago Bernabeu ahead of every match).

“Thanks to my club from my soul for publishing me!!!,” the trumpeter said in a quoted reply on his own account. “My dream would be to play this hymn on the centre of the pitch before a match. Let’s hope it can come true. Hala Madrid!”

The location may also look familiar to Liverpool supporters as it is just metres away from where thousands gathered in the club's fan zone ahead of last season’s Champions League final against Tottenham.
