Real Madrid confident of £180m Raheem Sterling transfer and more Man City rumours

Real Madrid are reportedly confident of signing Raheem Sterling this summer in the wake of Manchester City's Champions League ban.

City were banned from the Champions League for two years on Friday by UEFA, something the Sun claim will cost the club £170m per season.

The club have announced their intention to appeal the decision, but the report suggests City might have to sell their best players if that fails.

And that is where Real Madrid's apparent interest in Sterling comes in. The Spanish giants were already said to be planning a summer bid for Sterling, but now feel more confident that a transfer worth around £180m could happen if they can offer him Champions League football and City cannot.

The report adds that City are in talks with increasing Sterling's contract to £450,000-per-week, but that will not be possible without the Champions League income and could be forced to sell.

Meanwhile, City winger Jack Harrison has reportedly told friends he is 'very keen' to join Leeds United on a permanent deal.

Harrison is in his second season-long spell at Elland Road, where he has become a key part of Marcelo Bielsa's promotion push, starting every league game this campaign.

Now, FootballInsider claim Harrison, 23, has been vocal about his desire to make his move permanent - something which Leeds have the option to do as part of their loan deal this season.

The report claims Leeds can sign Harrison for around £10m in the summer, with his City contract running until 2022.
