Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane plays down links to Arsenal target Houssem Aouar

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has played down links with Arsenal target Houssem Aouar.

Zidane has consistently claimed he is happy with his squad, while also leaving the door open for a possible new signing ahead of transfer deadline day on Monday.

The Frenchman is an admirer of a the Lyon midfielder and Los Blancos have been linked with a late move for the 22-year-old.

"I don't know what information you have," Zidane said in a press conference on Saturday when asked about the midfielder. "I have no doubt about that player, he is a fantastic player.

"Perhaps one day he could play for Madrid, but today we have this squad and my concern is the players I have now.

"From October 5 (when the window closes), we won't have these questions."

Meanwhile, Zidane has lost right-backs Dani Carvajal an Alvaro Odriozola to injury over the past two days and said: "Those are things that can happen with a squad.

"We have to count on other players. We cannot look for excuses."
