Real Madrid are close to finalising a €60 million deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Luka Jovic.

Los Blancos were known to be in the market for a centre-forward to provide back-up and also competition to Karim Benzema and are now on the verge of tying up a deal for the Serbian striker.

Jovic, who has scored 27 goals in 47 appearances for Eintracht this season and was key in the German side’s run to the Europa League semi-finals, is only 21 years old and will lead a summer of rebuilding at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to Sky Germany, the striker will sign a five-year contract with the Spanish side and he could be unveiled as early as next week.

Meanwhile, Madrid’s move for Jovic could be partially funded by the sale of Mariano Diaz, who is wanted by Valencia.

Mariano returned to Real from Lyon last year in a €21.5m deal, but is not in the plans of coach Zinedine Zidane and is one of a number of players set to be sold by Los Blancos this summer.

Reports in Spain say Valencia will need to secure Champions League football in order to bid for the striker.

Marcelino’s men are currently fourth in La Liga and can qualify for the continental competition by beating Valladolid on Sunday.
