Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane worried after Eden Hazard suffers injury three weeks before Barcelona Clasico

Real Madrid face a nervous wait to discover the severity of Eden Hazard’s ankle injury after the Belgian attacker limped off during Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Hazard took a blow to his right ankle from international team-mate Thomas Meunier and needed treatment for a few minutes before eventually being replaced by Gareth Bale midway through the second half.

The 28-year-old had to be helped off the pitch by members of Madrid’s medical team and was taken straight to a clinic after the match.

“It’s is worrying,” coach Zinedine Zidane said. “He was in pain. It’s more than just a knock. He twisted his ankle. He has gone for tests and we will have to see what the results are.”

Later, Hazard was seen leaving the clinic with a smile on his face and radio reports in Spain claimed there is no fracture.

Test results on Wednesday should determine the extent of the problem and whether the former Chelsea attacker is likely to miss Madrid’s Clasico clash away to Barcelona on December 18.
