Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane urged to sign Manchester United star Paul Pogba

Zinedine Zidane has no reason to wait in bringing Manchester United star Paul Pogba to Real Madrid - according to former France international Christophe Dugarry.

Pogba has been heavily linked with a switch to Madrid for months after stating his desire to leave United for a new challenge during last summer's transfer window.

A United exit failed to materialise and Pogba will have just one year left on his contract in June, though United have the option to extend it for a further year.

MEN Sport understand United are yet to trigger the clause and are relaxed about the Frenchman's future at the club.

Dugarry - who made 55 appearances for the French national team - believes Zidane should do everything in his power to land the World Cup winner in the upcoming window.

"It has been a difficult year for him [Pogba], with injuries and what have you," he told RMC Sport.

"The team is not doing well, but every time he has played, he has reached his level.

"Knowing Zizou, if he is in love with Pogba, there is no reason to wait another year.

"We have all seen that their midfield has grown a little old.

"It's a midfield that struggles to break the lines and get on the end of crosses.

"Pogba knows how to do that. For me, he's ideal because of what he would bring to Real Madrid."
