Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane drops major hint on Manchester United's Paul Pogba

Zinedine Zidane has dropped a major hint about Real Madrid's transfer pursuit of Paul Pogba, believing "something could happen" before the window closes.

The Manchester United midfielder has stated his desire for a "new challenge" this summer, while his agent Mina Raiola has publicly revealed that he's working on a transfer away from Old Trafford.

Pogba, however, has shown little sign of being unsettled during United's pre-season tour of Australia and Singapore so far this summer. He's impressed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have won three from three on tour.

But Zidane still believes Madrid's very public pursuit of Pogba could be successful. Juventus have also shown an interest in re-signing the Frenchman, who was United's top scorer last season but was criticised for his inconsistent form as Solskjaer's men finished the campaign in sixth.

"We need to respect everybody, but the only thing I can say from the club is we know what we want to do," Zidane said.

"Something could happen before the end of August. We could have some changes."

Los Blancos have already splashed the cash this summer to bring in Eden Hazard from Chelsea, plus the likes of Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao and Luka Jovic.

It is part of a major shake-up at the Santiago Bernabeu with Zidane confirming the club's intention to offload Gareth Bale. United have been heavily linked with the Welshman in the past and Zidane said: they are “working on his departure” and hoped to find a buyer “for everyone’s sake”.

MEN Sport understands Bale is not among United's top targets this summer and that the club are adamant Pogba will not be sold.
