Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane asked about Paul Pogba Manchester United transfer speculation

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was asked about speculation linking his side with a move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba ahead of Madrid's fixture against Getafe.

Pogba stated his intentions to leave United during the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise. MEN Sport understood United had no intention of allowing their star player to leave despite Real Madrid being interested in a potential move.

With the January transfer window now open, rumours over a switch to Madrid have resurfaced in the wake of an ankle injury that saw Pogba miss United 's games against Burnley and Arsenal.

Reds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed Pogba would require surgery to solve the problem and would miss three to four weeks of action.

Not for the first time this season, Zidane was asked about the speculation linking Madrid with the Frenchman but refused to be comment on the rumours.

"How can I reply to that?" he said at his pre-match press conference.

"Paul [Pogba] is a player at another team and the important thing for him - because I think he is injured - is to get back playing.

"I wish him the very best but we focus on what we have."
