Real Madrid and the extra Celtic homework by Courtois which left Juranovic with head in his hands

Josip Juranovic has been part of a study by Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after his missed a Celtic penalty kick at the Bernabeu.

The right-back has been linked with clubs across the continent after form for club and country at the World Cup, but he could have had a nice personal moment on Champions League duty. Celtic were defeated 5-1 by Los Blancos in the Spanish capital and Belgium's number one saved a spot kick by the Croatian, which was down to the extra analysis work he does.

It's something Courtois has added to his game and has used to effect in La Liga this term, and again it proved useful as he stopped Jose Gaya's shot from 12 yards to secure Real Madrid's Spanish Super Cup semi-final progression against Valencia. But the 30-year-old told EldesMarque that Juranovic's was a good template: "It's watching videos of penalties that have been taken. For example, Cavani took them more to the right, that's why I went to that side.

"Gaya knew that he had missed another against Sevilla on the left and had previously taken another in the shootout with Betis in the middle. So it was clear to me that I was going to shoot in the middle or to the right.

"That's why I didn't go all the way to the right, because I knew that I could shoot in the middle , just like Raúl García last year. And so it has been, but it can change, although we try to find out by watching videos.

"Against Girona, I had the feeling that Stuani was going to shoot to the left, but we had talked before that he would shoot them to the right, and he shot it to the right. We saw Juranovic throw them to the right in Europe and to the left in Scotland .

"My intuition also said that to the right. So I threw myself there and I was able to save it”
