Real Madrid address transfer interest in Manchester United star Paul Pogba

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has opened up on the failed pursuits of Paul Pogba and Robert Lewandowski in a revealing interview.

Speculation linking Pogba with a move to the Bernabeu only grew more intense this summer after the French World Cup winner admitted he wanted a 'new challenge' away from Manchester United.

Bayern Munich forward Lewandowski, meanwhile, has been the subject of rumours aplenty ever since Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus.

The reports linking Pogba and Lewandowski to Real didn't lead to anything more than that this summer. MEN Sport understands that Pogba was never up for sale at any point and the situation remains the same now.

This state of affairs has now been backed up by Perez's comments on Real's attempts to sign the 26-year-old.

"There are players who don't get sold," Perez told reporters, per Goal . "We went for Lewandowski for several years and nothing happened because he has no clause and they (Bayern Munich) won't sell him.

"There's no way. And that's happened with Pogba. When certain players can be sold, we can go for them."

Perez also recently hinted that Real are still in the market for players such as Pogba but as mentioned, the situation remains the same at Old Trafford in regards to the midfielder. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the United board are keen to keep the playmaker.
