Real live mermaids are swimming in shark tanks - and its not far from Liverpool

Mermaids will be swimming with turtles, stingrays and sharks this summer as they dive in to Sea Life at the Trafford Centre.

Families will be able to catch a glimpse of the mythical creatures as they swim, and even watch as the mermaids interact using sign language.

The mermaids will be at Sea Life on several different dates throughout the year, including July 13 - 14, reports Examiner Live .

A Sea Life spokesperson said: "We’re delighted to prove that mermaids are ‘real’ once again this year and can’t wait to welcome these rare and wonderful beings to our site.

“They will only be in our aquarium on selected dates, so it really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for guests old and young to visit us and interact with genuine mermaids.

"Fully trained Sea Life team members will be on hand throughout the event to ensure all ocean species are comfortable and calm."

Visitors can also see the mermaids on August 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31; October 12 -13; November 9 - 10 and December 7- 8.
