Real-life Florida Hamburglar cooks himself dinner after breaking into a Wendy's, deputies say

Florida has its own real-life Hamburglar, and he spent part of his weekend in jail after being caught on video cooking meals for himself in a restaurant he broke into, deputies said Saturday.

Patrick Benson, 34, used bricks or large rocks to force his way into two Jensen Beach restaurants after hours, then at one of them, a Wendy's, "fired up the grill and cooked himself a hamburger before stealing the safe," the Martin County Sheriff's Office said.

"SNACK AND PACK BURGLAR ... STARTS HIS WEEKEND AT THE DRIVE THROUGH OF THE MARTIN COUNTY JAIL," the sheriff's office posted on its Facebook page.

Deputies said he also tried to break into a gas station store.

Benson was charged with burglary, grand theft, and attempted burglary after multiple tips from an earlier Facebook post led deputies to him.
