Real Housewives star Tanya Bardsley on the fire that destroyed her home

The Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley has recalled the moment fire broke out while her teenage daughter Gabriella was at home.

Reality star Tanya says the blaze in her Cheshire home has changed her outlook on material possessions.

And she's now looking forward to the first Christmas after the house was restored from its shell.

The devastating fire started during a heatwave in August 2018 when a TV under a skylight exploded.

Speaking with OK! magazine she explained: "We lost everything but of course because the kids and the whole family were okay, we weren’t bothered.

"It just confirmed that the home is where the family is, and it doesn’t matter about bricks and mortar.

"This Christmas will feel extra special too."

After rushing to her daughter's aid she found 17-year-old Gabriella sitting outside in her pyjamas crying.

Tanya, 38, explained: "It set the whole top of the house on fire. It’s taken a year to get the house restored. We had to take it right back to it’s shell and started again."

Tanya, one of the original stars of the ITVBe reality show which follows the glamorous lives of a group of women living in Cheshire, also has three sons Rocco, 10, Renz, seven and three-year-old Ralphi with her footballer husband Phil Bardsley.

The full interview is in this week's OK! magazine out now.
