Real Betis fire ultimate Celtic warning as Europa League foes warm up for Parkhead by beating Barcelona

Real Betis beat Barcelona in their own back yard for the ultimate warm up ahead of a trip to face Celtic in midweek.

The Seville side downed Camp Nou legend Xavi and his youthful Barca with Juanmi firing the only goal of the game 11 minutes from time.

It was the striker's 11th goal in 16 games — and he's now the top Spanish scorer in La Liga with a tally of nine.

It heaps more trouble on the cash-strapped Blaugrana who now sit seventh.

But Betis are flying high as they occupy the last Champions League spot in Spain's top flight.

Celtic will be sweating on the fitness of three players for Thursday night after Jota, Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh were all substituted with injuries against Hearts on Thursday night.

They head to Tannadice to take on Dundee United on Sunday before the home clash against Manuel Pellegrini's men.

There is little at stake, competitively at least, with Betis and Bayer Leverkusen locking out the top two spots in Group H with a game to spare, while Ange Postecoglou's side will drop into the Europa Conference League in the New Year.

The reverse fixture ended in an enthralling 4-3 home win at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.
