Real Betis expect Tottenham to sign Giovani Lo Celso permanently in January

Real Betis expect Tottenham to complete the permanent signing of Giovani Lo Celso in January.

Lo Celso arrived at Spurs in the summer on an initial loan spell, with an agreed optional price of €32million in January or an obligated price of €40m in the summer should the club qualify for the Champions League.

Injuries have seen Lo Celso's minutes limited during the first half of the season, he has just one start in the Premier League and two in the Champions League, but opened his account against Olympiacos.

Speaking at the meeting of the club's shareholders, as reported by Estadio Deportivo, Real Betis president Angel Haro was asked about money from the sale of Lo Celso coming in.

Haro said there was no further news "regarding the purchase option", but added: "[Tottenham] will exercise it because if they don't they will be [charged more] in June.

"They may also have to exercise the mandatory [clause].

"We understand that they will exercise it, but if not [we will be] delighted with the player [returning]."
