
Ahead of the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival (July 1 to 15) in Fukuoka city, craftsmen put the finishing touches on paper lanterns for the festival at a shop with a long history in the city. The paper lanterns will be hung up at festival sites and carried by participants. The lantern-making is at its peak and about 300 of them will be ready by early July.
