Ready Steady Cook is returning to our screens - and the whole thing is being filmed in Glasgow

The BBC are serving up a brand new series the nineties show of Ready Steady Cook - and Glasgow is set to be the main ingredient.

The reboot will be filmed and produced in Scotland's biggest city, with Rylan Clark-Neal lined up as the new presenter.

You'll probably have fond memories of the classic cooking show - who can forget presenter Ainsley Harriott leading two rival cooking teams (the red tomatoes and green peppers) through a series of tasks in the kitchen? Pure TV gold.

This series marks the third time the series has been given a reboot. The show first began in 1994 with Fern Britton for six years and returned again in 2000, with Ainsley running the kitchen for a full ten years.

It was the longest-running cookery show ever to hit British screens - and Rylan is hoping the new series will make a mega comeback.

The X Factor star turned TV presenter said: "I'm so excited that Ready Steady Cook is finally coming back to our screens. To be asked to host such an amazing show for the BBC is such a privilege.

"I'm sure that the mix of new challenges, fantastic chefs and enthusiastic cooks will be a recipe for success, maybe with the odd disaster. I can't wait to get in the kitchen!"

He even tweeted that the show is currently looking for contestants - and Glaswegians are already scrambling to apply. And why not?  You'd only have to go up the road for filming!
