Reading reject chance for Bristol City fans to watch game on Sky Sports red button and iFollow

Bristol City fans hoping to watch tonight's game against Reading on TV have been left disappointed.

The Robins make the trip to Reading tonight for a rearranged game after the Royals were in FA Cup action against Cardiff City over the weekend.

Whilst the game has been rearranged from a Saturday, 3pm kick-off, it was still eligible to be shown on Sky Sports' red button coverage due to it now taking place in midweek.

For example, both Cardiff City's game against West Bromwich Albion, and Leeds United's home match against Millwall were originally scheduled to take place at the weekend but were rearranged to tonight due to FA Cup involvement, yet the matches are still being shown on Sky Sports.

However, Reading have denied Sky the chance to broadcast this evening's game.

EFL regulations state that the home side have the final decision over whether a game not selected for broadcast on Sky's main channels can be shown on the red button.

The Royals' decision means fans in the UK cannot stream the game on Robins TV, either, as confirmed by the club yesterday.

A statement posted on the Robins' website said:"As per EFL regulations, it is the home club’s decision as to whether a midweek fixture - not selected for live broadcast - is domestically streamed, and Reading have opted against it."
