Reading and Leeds Festival banned list – booze, cameras, whipped cream and balloons

Reading and Leeds Festival will once again return over the August bank holiday weekend (August 26-28) with some of the music industry's biggest names on the line-up.

The festival, which is spread out between the southern and northern cities, will see the likes of The 1975, Dave and Arctic Monkeys headlining over the weekend.

With thousands of festival-goers expected to travel to Reading and Leeds this year, it is important to know what you can and can't take to the festival to ensure that the weekend is smooth sailing.

Here's a full list of the items that are banned from Reading and Leeds Festival 2022.

A number of items are banned from both festivals, with different policies for both the campsites and the arenas.

  • Aerosols over 250ml

  • Air horns / megaphones

  • All gas canisters of any size - including nitrous oxide/whipped cream canisters and associated equipment (i.e balloons)

  • Animals - other than registered guide dogs

  • Unauthorised sale items

  • Weapons

  • Drones

  • Firewood

  • Fireworks

  • Flares

  • Generators

  • Glass bottles

  • Drugs - medication requires a medical note

  • Catapults

  • Nitrous oxide

  • Petrol burners

  • Excessive amounts of food (i.e more than for personal consumption)

  • Laser pens

  • Petrol burner

  • Selfie sticks

  • Clothing/garments/items which promote cultural appropriation

  • Sound systems

  • Spray cans

  • Unofficial reflective jackets and tabards

Arena

Where is Reading and Leeds Festival 2022?

The 1975, Dave and Arctic Monkeys will headline this year's Reading and Leeds Festival (SWNS)

Reading and Leeds take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend, with most festival-goers making their way to the events on either the Wednesday or Thursday.

This year, Reading Festival will take place at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue, while Leeds Festival will be hosted at the event’s sister site Bramham Park, near Wetherby.

Tickets for Reading and Leeds 2022 have now fully sold out, however, resale tickets are available online for those who wish to attend the festivals over the bank holiday weekend.

Resale tickets can be found via official resale partner Ticketmaster.

Festival organisers have warned customers of touts and urged fans to only use their official resale partner to avoid disappointment.

Tickets for Reading and Leeds Festival 2023 are expected to go on sale following this year's event.
