"Water? Pah! It's for washing your feet in," a friend of mine was once told, asking for a glass of water in a bar in rural France. But without water, there's no life. And without life, there's no music.
Songs about water are elemental, as old as the hills. Once upon a time, people prayed for water – in fact, some unfortunate souls still do.
