As you can imagine, harvesting last week's crop of scary songs was a laugh riot. At one point I found myself trying to comfort a crying baby while listening to Blind Willie Johnson. This did not go well.
Thanks for all your suggestions though. Many of them were new to me, including The Boiler, The Cockfighter and Hamburger Lady, all of which scared the bejeesus out of me. I particularly enjoyed the eloquence of some of the posts. I now won't be able to hear She's Lost Control without thinking of ejaydee's description of the intro: "as if you were slowly opening the door to the cold spare room in the house."
After such an almanac of human misery, this week's topic is somewhat more uplifting. I'll be compiling songs about friendship in all its guises. First person to suggest the theme tune from The Golden Girls gets barred.
You may have noticed that the website has had a redesign. At the time of writing I haven't seen the new look myself but I'm sure it's very nice. We should have a new FAQ section, better archiving and links to facilitate downloading. Let me know what you think.
