Sanna Marin has been elected as the new prime minister in Finland, making her the country’s youngest ever head of government. Her rise to prominence places her among the largely female-dominated leadership of Finland’s coalition, but she joins at a time of disruption due to strike action affecting some of the country’s largest companies and its ongoing movement toward carbon neutrality.
