Thanks to the photo caminoamigo sent in of an empty church in Ireland, this week’s assignment is on empty places of worship around the world.
Empty churches: Ireland
This Irish Catholic Church was empty midweek save for this set-list (?) found in the choir balcony.
Have you stumbled across an open church with no worshippers in it or discovered that it’s actually a redundant Anglican church for sale? Whether it’s a Buddhist temple or vihara, or a Muslim musalla or masjid we’d like to see your photos and hear your stories. Perhaps you’ve seen an abandoned synagogue, an empty Sikh gurdwara or spotted a deconsecrated Catholic church near you. Is the building now derelict or has it been converted into something else? Do you know how may people used to worship there?
