Offline exams

With the number of COVID cases dipping, it looks like the pandemic third wave has ebbed. Schools and colleges have been closed since the past two years and students have suffered the most. Everyone knows the limitations of online education, so there should be a sincere effort to reopen schools fully, with COVID protocols in place. Students should be encouraged to attend classes offline as nothing can substitute classroom teaching. Final exams should also be conducted offline.

Pedestrianisation work

People who use public transport would love to shop in and around the Charminar area. During a recent visit, however, I found that while the pedestrianisation project is a boon for us, shopkeepers say that the number of those coming by two-wheelers or autorickshaws has dwindled, affecting their businesses by 40%. They suggest that the government should allow at least electric taxis or battery-operated autos for pick up and drop as is being allowed at the airports. Hawkers need to be regulated in particular stretches and beggars should be rehabilitated so that tourists are not hassled.

Electric meter

I have submitted a complaint requesting the change of category to domestic from common for our service no. 2443 02388 with AE, Section Office, Lenin Nagar, Ranga Reddy South Circle on January 13. Since I got no response, I e-mailed customer care copy to CMD on the same issue on February 1. I got a reply two days later, saying my complaint has been forwarded to Divisional Engineer/Op/Champapet. But now, two weeks have elapsed and no action has been taken. Yet, I got the bill on February 4 charging ₹596 for 108 units which actually should be ₹420.88 only. I wonder how the staff could be so negligent in dealing with complaints.

Walking Street

The straight stretch from Kachiguda X road to Koti covering the main market areas of Sultan Bazar and Badichowdi underneath the metro line should be developed as ‘walkers/ shopping street’ with plantations, street lights, and chairs just like it is done at Karolbagh in Delhi and Mahatma Gandhi Marg at Gangtok. I request the GHMC and departments concerned to look into this.

Digital traffic Lights

I had earlier requested the GHMC and the Traffic Police to consider installing digital traffic signal system at critical and main junctions of Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, Parade Grounds and Paradise, but it is so sad to note that the greivance highlighted here has not yet been addressed by the authorities concerned. For a daily commuter like me, it is painful to note the travails of citizens in trying to avoid accidents.
