Read all about it: Newspaper print is making a comeback

John Galliano's newspaper print is considered one of the most iconic patterns of the noughties.

Having created the black and white aesthetic for Dior's Haute Couture spring collection in 2000, it went on to become synonymous with the hit TV show Sex And The City, when Carrie Bradshaw, played by actress Sarah Jessica Parker, wore it in season three that same year.

Now loaded with nostalgia, the pattern has been slowly but surely re-emerging as several other designers put their own spin on broadsheet chic.

Last year, it was Demna Gvasalia who gave a nod to the monochrome text-adorned print with a spring/summer 2018 collection for Balenciaga that featured newsprint tops and jackets which gave the pattern back its street cred.

For 2019 however, it was Versace who fully championed the recognisable pattern, sending a special red, black and white design down both the men's and women's spring/summer 2019 catwalks.

And it didn't take much encouragement for a plethora of stylish celebs to start wearing the grungy pattern, giving it micro-trend status for spring/summer 2019.

Gigi Hadid is the latest celebrity to be spotted in the tabloid print, sporting a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier design, which is currently available to buy from Farfetch for £390.

At the end of 2018 Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was seen with a new season Versace newspaper clutch, meanwhile Rita Ora opted for a vintage Galliano slip dress.

The Kardashian's have also been fully onboard with the trend in recent months.

Kourtney Kardashian has previously been spotted in paper print trousers, while Kendall Jenner has worn a vintage Galliano tee courtside at a Los Angeles Clippers game.

Jenner has continued to champion the trend well into 2019, posting an image of herself in a newspaper print bikini by Dipped In Blue last weekend.

Bella Hadid has also been seen in the same bikini - so expect the paper pattern to be an unexpected addition to the swimwear scene this year.

Now the celebrity-led trend has also taken over the 'new in' sections of several high street stores including PrettyLittleThing and Missguided - and consequently, has made a pretty powerful appearance on Instagram.
