Reactions to Quinton Dunbar’s request for trade or release

An otherwise quiet February day on the NFL calendar turned bad for the Washington Redskins in a way they only seem to do for the Redskins.

Monday, it went public that cornerback Quinton Dunbar had requested a trade or release from the team over a contractual dispute.

Dunbar, the team’s best corner right now, seemed to have an idea a contract extension was coming this offseason with the last coaching staff but that has since ceased being a thing upon the arrival of Ron Rivera as the new head coach.

Quinton Dunbar is definitely doing this for a new contract plain and simple. It really depends on what he’s asking if the Redskins should give him a new contract or not. If they can get a second round pick for him he’s getting traded. I still think they should sign Bradberry.

Quinton Dunbar, deservedly, is putting a premium price on his next contract.

He has $0 guaranteed money in 2020, and as demonstrated in his response to missing the Pro Bowl, considers himself one of the top CBs in the NFL. @PFF agrees with him.

Quinton Dunbar is great when he’s on the field but he’s been injured to much and with the deep CB FA class I don’t think the Redskins are going to just cave in and pay him I think they will trade him this isn’t Bruce Allen running the show anymore.

Quinton Dunbar wanting to leave is a gut punch. He got discovered and then blossomed here. He’s a very good corner but does have some injury concerns. Yes you should extend him, no you shouldn’t break the bank.

This Quinton Dunbar news could just be him trying to play hardball to get a new deal. He knows that DB was already a need for this team and that his loss creates an even bigger hole. We'll see.

If I were Quinton Dunbar’s agent I tell him to go to OTAs it’s risky to challenge a new regime on what your value is BUT this is probably his last window of opportunity to get paid big so I get where he’s coming from. Gotta risk it for the biscuit
