The Reach Network team has a number of new roles available to join our team working all across the UK to support the nation's largest regional news publisher.
Since its formation in 2018 the team provides the latest UK & World News, the biggest stories, the best videos and live breaking news as part of Reach Live news brands up and down the country.
Now new roles include video journalists, breaking news reporters, trainee reporters, trending writers, content editors and SEO specialists amongst others.
Here's a run-through of the roles available. You can be based anywhere in the UK or Ireland and roles can be home-based or with occasional working in a Reach Hub newsroom at various locations in the UK.
Network trending team
You’ll be across the biggest stories in the UK and beyond, quickly telling them to our readers across the Live network of sites. We also make use of the brilliant, original, storytelling by our journalists across the Reach network to ensure their journalism is seen by as many people as possible. As Network Content Editor you’ll work with our content desk to spot trends, ensure our stories are told in an engaging way, look for registration opportunities and much more.
We’re also looking for four trainee Network writers to join our team, writing on the biggest UK and World news topics and creating original, compelling stories which help our regional news brands remain an essential part of our readers’ daily lives. You’ll receive full training from experts across Reach newsrooms, spend time working as part of your nearest Reach newsroom and also work towards a full senior qualification with Reach as part of our traineeship.
This is the perfect role for an experienced content editor or a senior reporter with live news and desk experience. Working with more than 30 of Reach’s Live brands, Night Owl is a multiskilled team supporting news desks across the country, spotting breaking news, writing high impact network stories and helping with newsdesk responsibilities - we do it all. You’ll need clear communication skills, social media knowledge and the ability to multitask. Working in shift patterns between the hours of 11am and midnight this is a fast paced role where no shift is ever the same. Do you think you could be a Night Owl Digital Publisher?
Overnights team
News never sleeps. And we need someone to head up our overnight operation. You’ll be Overnights Editor throughout the night for our entire Live network and Irish and Scottish editorial operations too, leading the overnights team and ensuring when the news breaks - no matter what time - we’re there.
You’ll lead a team of overnight content editors and overnight reporters - we’re recruiting for both these roles and there’s also some fixed-term contract roles available too for overnight reporters to join our team straight away. Logging on at 10.30pm you’ll be our eyes and ears across the country until 6am.
Central video desk
Dealing with videos from murder scenes, editing taste tests from the finest champagne to seeing if rhubarb works as a pizza topping, and working out what the best lines are in the latest Commons speech on coronavirus means working for the central video team is one of the most varied jobs in the business. You’ll be working and talking directly to reporters on the street, content editors running live news across the biggest cities and creating engaging social media videos which will be seen by millions. Live news stories around the country will be waiting for you to blur and bleep videos, you’ll be writing video led articles for the network and be there with every breaking incident in all the towns and cities we cover in the nation (which is more or less everywhere). You’ll learn how to train people, work on one of the best teams in Reach and be at the heart of every big story in Britain. If you’re a journalist with some video skills and an appetite to work hard and learn you could be the perfect candidate. Apply here.
Network TV team
Our readers love watching a bit of telly, and so do we. Whether it’s the couple from Walsall finding their dream home on Escape to the Country or the student from Gateshead smashing it on The Chase there’s always that delight at seeing someone from where you’re from on the TV. We’re recruiting for three Network TV content writers to join our team to ensure no matter what channel we’re ensuring those from our patches are getting the spotlight they deserve. A great role for a telly addict - either daytime TV or night time dramas, there’s something for everyone.
SEO team
Question, are you always on Google searching for the latest news and trends? We’re looking for an SEO Editor and a team of SEO writers to join our team and ensuring when people ask questions on search engines they find reliable, trustworthy and well-researched content to meet their needs.
This is a chance for an experienced editor to take a step up onto one of the biggest stages in regional journalism. Working closely with the Network teams editors, the Audience and Content Director (Regionals) and Head of Live Local Brands for Reach PLC’s Live network you’ll help to shape the days news agenda and audience focus for our newsrooms across England and Wales. You’ll be a brilliant journalist, able to get beyond the trend line and have a fantastic eye for a story and the line that’s been missed. You’ll be an excellent communicator and able to motivate and inspire newsrooms on a daily basis. Could you be our Live Network Duty Editor?
Recirculation team
We’re not just about telling stories, we also want to ensure people stay with our websites for longer and read more stories. Our new recirculation team will know what people want to read next and help increase our loyal audiences. You’ll be excellent at browsing a wide mix of content and knowing what people want more of. Our engagement producers (recirculation) are a new and varied role to help us engage further with our audiences across the Live network.
You can find all roles on the Reach careers website as well as lots of roles for regional and national publications across the Reach portfolio.
