Re-signing Jarran Reed could proved too costly for Seahawks

The Seahawks have a number of players set to hit free agency, including some key pieces of the defensive line. Despite the increase in the salary cap this season, Seattle won’t be able to keep everyone and some hard decisions will have to be made.

It’s no secret the Seahawks have been working over the last few years to strengthen their defensive line and will continue to do so via free agency and the NFL draft. While Jadeveon Clowney is one player who immediately comes to mind, Seattle has another player to consider keeping on the roster – defensive tackle Jarran Reed.

Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com believes Reed could be one of eight overpriced free agents set to hit the market.

“Beware the free-agent signing with one standout season out of four, especially when that season preceded a suspension,” Rosenthal cautions. “The Seahawks need defensive linemen, so it will be telling if they don’t make a big effort to re-sign Reed.”

We took a closer look at the Reed options earlier this season – have a read here.
