RCU Finishes Designs of Model Neighborhood to ‘Enhance Life Quality’

By officially launching designs for homes in the neighborhood complex, RCU seeks to achieve comprehensive sustainable development. Asharq Al-Awsat

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has finished a design for its first model neighborhood, which has been created as part of efforts to sustainably develop AlUla County for residents and enhance the quality of life in it.

By officially launching designs for homes in the neighborhood complex, RCU seeks to achieve comprehensive sustainable development within the framework of AlUla County’s urban development.

It also aims at developing a perfect destination for work and residence, and providing the life requirement in a model neighborhood with a special architectural aspect, wholesome services, and a harmonious environment that link people to nature and heritage.

The neighborhood consists of more than 700 residential and commercial units, and stretches over more than 260,000 square meters. The designs for the new, integrated, model neighborhood reflect the surrounding natural and cultural environment and creates a community lifestyle by using the available spaces between buildings, providing pedestrian paths, creating public areas, and increasing green spaces across interconnected sites.

The commission continues to achieve its vision for AlUla in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

A comprehensive sustainable development in a unique cultural and natural environment in the northwest of the kingdom, with the aim of transforming the region into a leading global destination of heritage, arts and culture, as well as a great place to live and work.

In recent weeks, RCU said that it has started to receive applications for building permits, as part of its ongoing sustainable urban development scheme in AlUla’s Sadr and AlUla Mahash.

It also provides samples and designs inspired by the traditional architecture in AlUla through AlUla studio, which introduces new social services that play a key role in the urban development scheme, in addition to architectural designs that offer residents the chance to select properties that suit the history and heritage of the region.
