RCMP say Edmonton skydiver, 52, died during weekend competition

WESTLOCK, Alta. — RCMP say a skydiver has died during a competition north of Edmonton.

A police news release the 52-year-old man was "performing a high-performance technique" at the Edmonton Skydiving Centre at the Westlock Airport on Saturday afternoon.

They say he was unable to land properly and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the man's family has been notified, and they are still investigating the incident.

Police have not released his name.

No one at the Edmonton Skydiving Centre could be reached for comment.
