RCA president Vaibhav flags off new Jaipur stadium construction work

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) president Vaibhav Gehlot on Thursday flagged off the construction work of new Jaipur stadium near Chonp village at Jaipur-Delhi highway. Vishwakarma puja was performed before handing over the land to the Dee Vee Projects Ltd to start the construction process.

"The first phase of the stadium will take two years to complete. We have visited the largest stadium in Motera, and have seen and have gathered information about the new features and facilities there after interaction with the office bearers of the Gujarat Cricket Association and BCCI secretary Jay Shah. We will build the stadium in Jaipur on those lines," said the RCA president.

Talking about the preparation for the upcoming India versus New Zealand T20I match on November 17, Vaibhav said that various committees have been formed and they have started their work. When asked about fans being allowed during the international match, the RCA president said, "We have written to the Rajasthan government asking about the crowd they would allow in the stadium during the match. According to the response, we will inform the BCCI about it. BCCI has told us that it will be based on the state government's decision on what percentage of the crowd will be allowed entry."

The new stadium will be the third largest cricket stadium in the world, after the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, with a seating capacity of 75,000.
