RCA polls: Vaibhav, Dhananjay & Shah file nominations for prez post

JAIPUR: Though the stage is set for Vaibhav Gehlot's second tenure as president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), he will be challenged by Dhananjay Singh Khimsar and Mukesh Shah for the post in the upcoming elections. Son of former Rajasthan sports minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Dhananjay is the president of the Nagaur district cricket association (DCA) and Shah is the president of Sri Ganganagar. The duo belongs to the Lalit Modi faction whose face in recent times has been Nagaur DCA secretary Rajendra Singh Nandu.

The nominations for the six posts, president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, joint-secretary and executive member, were filed on Monday.

For the secretary's post, Sikar DCA treasurer Bhawani Samota has filed his nomination from the CP Joshi group while it is Nandu from the Modi camp. The third most important post of the treasurer's will see a fight between Bhilwara DCA secretary Rampal Sharma and Sri Ganganagar secretary Vinod Saharan. If sources are to be believed, RCA's chief patron and former president Joshi has been calling the shots and both Samota and Sharma, who are close to him, are his choice of candidates from their camp and not that of Vaibhav's.

Rajesh Bhadana, Satish Vyas and Ratan Singh from Joshi camp have given their names for the post of vice-president and will vie against Dhananjay and Shah who have also applied for this post.

Jalore DCA secretary Vyas and Ajmer DCA secretary Bhadana have also given names for the post of joint secretary and they will be up against Arun Singh from the Modi group. Only Jhalawar DCA secretary Farooq Ahmed has filed nomination for the executive member post.

Scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on Tuesday and the voting will be held on September 30 between 8 am and 10 am. The results will be declared on the same day by 12 pm.
